VENUE

WFOPC is conveniently located in Pavia, a small pleasant town 20 miles south of Milano. Pavia hosts one of the first University in Europe, founded in 1371, and is where Alessandro Volta in 1799 discovered electricity and Carlo Rubbia is now a professor. Distinguished alumni were Porro, Golgi (Nobel Laureate) and Forlanini.

The town is well connected by trains to Milano and easily reached by Malpensa and Linate Airports through a bus service (timetables).

At a short walk from Workshop place you will find the Visconti's Castle (1400), the Cathedral (1500), several churches which are considered masterpieces of the lombard-gotic architecture, and a downtown of narrow roads with a unique middle-age flavour and a lot of fashionable shops. Not far away is the magnificent Chartose (1500), as well as several Castles (Belgioioso and Bereguardo) and San Gaudenzio where the social dinner will take place.
